February is the month of love. I will be sharing posts and videos on social media including this blog with the message of self-love. My hope is to encourage you to do what you can to improve your body, mind and well-being.

Self-care practices are vital for a long, healthful life but they are also essential for a productive day, each day.

Have you ever had a late night? Not enough sleep? Ate poorly? Drank too much alcohol? We all have at some point and you know what happens the day after. Brain fog, no energy, no stamina, no creativity and poor problem solving all lead to an unproductive day.

I encourage you to begin with a small step.
Pick one idea and add more as you see fit. You’ll feel better and have the energy to get more done so, what have you got to lose?

  • Keep negative people out of your life.
  • Carve out time to read a book that teaches you a new skill or improves your life in some way.
  • Protect your sleep- get 7-9 hours consistently.
  • Pause once or twice/day to breathe deeply, even for one minute.
  • Try meditation – HERE is one I found and enjoy daily and it’s only 3 minutes!
  • Schedule a time with your partner or a friend(s).
  • Find ways to laugh and smile as often as you can.
  • Is it time for a physical? A dental check up? A mammogram? Schedule it today.
  • Unplug, even for one hour. Be present in the moment.
  • Make a small change in the way you eat. Add fruit, vegetables, reduce sugar intake or drink more water.
  • Go to bed a little earlier and read a book.
  • It doesn’t have to be a hardcore exercise regimen; add some form of movement to your day.
  • Keep a gratitude journal, take a moment to recognize even one small part of your day that pleases you.
  • Get fresh air regularly- walk the dog or yourself, take a hike, sit on a park bench.

Parting thought: Each one of these ideas are deposits into the investment that is YOU.
