Henry Ward Beecher once said, “The first hour of the morning is the rudder of the day.”

The goals you want to achieve in the early hours of the day, before you you begin work or start your commute to work, can set the stage for your entire day. Will it be sluggish or energized? Aimless or productive?

The key to making that morning a success lies in the preparation the night before.

You don’t have to do all of the tasks listed below but even a few minutes of intentional planning  can save you time in the morning and set up positive momentum for the day.

Tasks to consider doing the night before:

  • Check the weather forecast and have your kids plan what they will wear and set it aside.
  • Backpacks, shoes and outerwear for kids should be staged at the door.
  • Plan your own clothes for the next day.
  • Set up the coffee so you just have to push the start button in the morning.
  • Want to go for a run or workout in the morning?  Lay out your gear and sneakers the night before.
  • Look at your schedule and write up your to-do list for the next day.

Give it a try one day this week.
See you on the Road to Productivity.
